Strategic Plan 2014-2018

January 22, 2014

In recent years, ACED has implemented several actions both in agriculture and adaptation to climate change, but these actions lacked a clear policy framework. This strategic plan sets the strategic direction and positioning of the institution in the medium term (2014-2018).

The vision of the institution is to be a leading institution in the capacity building of farming communities to increase food security and reduce poverty. Therefore, the mission is to improve food and nutrition security in Benin while ensuring environmental sustainability. Three programmes have been developed to achieve this mission.

The first programme is "Agriculture and Food Security", whose objective is to support small-scale farmers to achieve a more efficient agriculture by improving the productivity of small farming systems, improving the performance of agricultural value chains, promoting post-harvest management and improving the nutritional status of communities.

The second programme is "Climate Change", whose objective is to support vulnerable communities in coping with climate change through adaptation of agriculture to climate change and variability, reduction of greenhouse gas emissions and mainstreaming of climate change into policies.

The last programme is "ICT for Agriculture" that aims to promote the use of ICT for the development of the agricultural sector through access of farmers to markets through ICT , use of ICT tools by agricultural stakeholders and management of agricultural knowledge.

During the implementation of this strategic plan we will focus on partnership, resource mobilization , capacity building , youth and women, monitoring and evaluation and knowledge management.
