ACED is awarded a research grant from NWO

March 27, 2015

ACED has been awarded a research grant from the Food & Business Applied Research Fund of the Netherlands Organisation for Scientific Research (NWO) to implement the project “Improving the resilience of the inland fishery in Benin”.

Inland fishery communities in Benin are facing increasing stress levels due to a growing population, pollution from urban areas and changing climatic conditions. This project explores the vulnerability of the coastal inland fishing sector and tests if formal and informal regulations are sufficiently resilient to meet the new challenges.

The research consortium led by ACED in partnership with the Centre for World Food Studies of the VU University Amsterdam (SOW-VU) and the Laboratory of Hydrobiology and Aquaculture of the University of Abomey-Calavi (LHA-UAC), will conduct the research program for a period of three years (2015 – 2018).
